The Challenge: Built in 1935, this classic Park Hill Tudor Revival was full of character but suffered from a common historic floor plan: a small, "galley-style" kitchen that was completely walled off from the rest of the home. The homeowners had lived in the house for decades and were ready to transform it into their "forever home." They needed a space that felt bright and open while remaining deeply respectful of the home's 1930s soul.

The Transformation: Our primary goal was to create a seamless connection between the kitchen and the dining areas. To achieve this, we performed a major structural wall removal, replacing the barrier with an open-concept flow that immediately changed the entire feel of the main floor.

To maximize the new sense of space, we expanded the window openings, installing Andersen windows with stained wood trim to match the home's original architectural details. We chose Woodharbor inset cabinetry in a custom finish—a furniture-grade detail that honors the period of the home while providing modern storage solutions.

High-End Finishes: No luxury kitchen is complete without professional-grade performance. We integrated Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances for a chef-caliber experience. The design is anchored by statement stone countertops that carry up the wall into a full-height backsplash, accented by floating shelves and custom ironwork from Black Tine Design.

The Result: The "Holly" project is a perfect example of how D&D Remodeling blends historic preservation with modern luxury. The result is a kitchen that feels significantly larger, breathes with natural light, and is built to serve the family for decades to come.
